Hit or Miss

Merging composition and improvisation, Hit or Miss considers the freedom of choice one has in how much or how little to fix sound materials during the compositional process. Hit or Miss is partly composed and partly aleatoric, and was created through a two-part process.

Each time the work is played, the events, collisions and silences that occur are different, while the essential sonic character of the work remains the same. The work becomes fixed when it is mixed down, but each recorded mix is a distinct variation.
