Our performance of Hanna Tuulikki’s Voice of the Bird at the Tectonics Festival last weekend has some radio broadcasts coming up – Radio 3′s Hear and Now (18th May) and Late Junction (21st May). .The performance included wonderful field recordings from Geoff Sample and fabulous costumes created by Deirdre Nelson aka dstitch and Annalisa Simonella. I am going to be composing electroacoustic music for Sarah Tripp’s forthcoming new work ‘Radio Writing’ as part of her residency at Camden Arts Centre, London this summer.  I’m really pleased to be working with Sarah again. More info to follow…

Looking forward to a bit of research and  development with writer, performer and theatre maker Martin O’Connor coming up soon. Martin specialises in text based performance, participation and education. Through his work he explores authenitc voices and investigates how familiar languages can inform and inspire Scottish audiences.

Following on from the Tramway performance of Hanna Tuulikki’s Away with the Birdsa project exploring the mimesis of birds in Gaelic song – we’re rehearsing the 9-voice version for the  forthcomingTectonics Festival. The project is produced by Suzy Glass in association with Cape Farewell as part of the Sea Change programme. I’m excited to be selected for the Scottish Music Centre’s Composition Marathon 2013. The event takes place over the weekend of 23th March, with final performances at The Arches from 3 – 6 pm on Sunday 4th March. Tickets are available from The Arches and more info here

INTERZONE

The Whisky Bond is hosting “INTERZONE”, a weekend of art, music and happenings exploring the boundaries of perception through synaesthesic installations of sound, light, video and performance, transforming the industrial shell of the 5th floor into a multi-sensory immersive environment of electric surrealism.

Opening Event: Friday 1st March, 6pm – 1am
Exhibition and events continue: Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd March, opening times TBC

I love the things that are going on over at Final Fling – the UK’s first one-stop-online-shop for end of life planning – and I’m pleased to be working on SM and other bits with Barbara Chalmers, Final Fling’s inspiring founder. Exciting things are afoot later in the year as Final Fling sets in motion a Day of the Dead celebration with performances, workshops, discussions and a parade. Details to follow but in the meantime, you can read more  at Day of the Dead.

My piece Fretwork, which uses guitar recordings as its sound source, is part of these Undae concerts coming up mid-December in Madrid, Spain. The Undae Project is a collaboration between Campo de Interferencias and the netlabel Thrmnphone.

A performance of Lateral will take place on 25th April 2012 at 4.05 pm as part of the High-Slack-Low-Slack-High event for GI Festival on site in Dixon Street, Glasgow, and again on 28th April for the final event in the Clydeport Authority Headquarters at 5 pm and 7.30 pm. The live performers are Claire Docherty, Kirstie Edgar, Jessica King, Nichola Scrutton, Morag Stark and Hanna Tuulikki. The events are free but booking is recommended for the Saturday 28th April event – contact highslacklow@gmail.com to book a place.
